To cheer the discouraged mind

And calm the restless soul

To sacrifice her own time

So that her family can grow

This is a godly mother’s love

When needed, to faithfully discipline

Urging one back to the right way

With a heart of deep compassion

And a measure of special grace

This is a godly mother’s love

To uplift God's truth and goodness

Within her own home

So her children realize the great purpose

In following the heavenly road

To listen amid the world’s deafness

And comfort the hurting heart

To show Christ’s likeness

And be a light in the dark
